Theft at Construction Sites
With the rise in lumber prices, many active construction sites in Nashville are experiencing an increase in lumber thefts. The Home Builders Association of Tennessee (HBAT) urges neighbors and builders to be aware of lumber theft and report all suspicious activities to the police.
To prevent crimes that happen overnight, builders and developers can safeguard their active construction sites by putting in place preventative measures to protect their assets. Some proactive measures include increasing lighting, fencing, just in time deliveries of materials, electronic monitoring such as motion activated cameras, signs warning of an alarm system, and placing an on-site storage container for secure storage of tools and materials. These measures will discourage thieves from stealing expensive materials from your construction sites.
Our builders have enough to worry about, lumber theft should not be one of them.
