Who needs residential Continuing Education?
Residential contractors licensed after Jan 1, 2009. Contractor’s license classifications of BC-A, BC-A/r, or BC-A,b(sm) are all required to show evidence of continuing education to renew their license.
The Qualifying Agent (QA) designated on the contractor’s license is the only individual who may obtain RCE for the license.
How many Education Credits do I need?
Residential Classifications A (all) – 8 credit hours every 2 years.

Is there a list of education providers that apply to my license?
Yes, the Tennessee Board for Licenses Contractors maintains a list of approved education providers.
The Home Builders Association of Tennessee is an approved education provider and the only approved professional association. As an approved professional association our members earn 4 hours of continuing education credits each year by receiving the weekly TN Builder News, staying up to date on the most recent industry issues. HBAT members may also earn additional education credits through their local HBA.
