HBAT 50^th Anniversary Fun Facts

The Home Builders Association of Tennessee was founded in 1960, which was a leap year. U.S. Senator John F. Kennedy (D-MA) announced his candidacy for the Democratic presidential nomination, and legendary rock band, the Beatles, were formed in Liverpool, England. In 1957, John Lennon had originally gathered several school friend musicians and started a band called, The Quarrymen. Paul McCartney joined this band several months later. Lennon was sixteen and McCartney was fifteen years old at the time.

106^th General Assembly Speeds Toward Completion

Tempers are short Committees are shutting down Schedules are changing constantly&&Welcome to the end of session.

The 106th General Assembly is speeding to a completion hopefully by the end of the first week of May.

Our legislation dealing with Deficiency Judgments will be up in two committees this week, and we are working with all the involved parties to see if we can come to an agreement that will be acceptable to our members.

We will be meeting this afternoon with a number of legislators and others who are deeply interested in the revisions to the workers compensation legislation moving through the House. We believe we are very close to reaching an agreement on a number of key points.

We are reviewing the administrations Technical Corrections Bill to determine if there are any components that will have any effect on our industry.

There are a number of Energy Audit bills that we are continuing to follow that could add additional cost to the sale of a home.

2010 MEMBERSHIP DRIVE TRAINING THIS WEEK

Please note that the 2010 HBAT Membership Drive will be held on May 19-20, 2010. Training for the Drive will be held in Knoxville on April 15^th and in Memphis on April 16^th. This is a change from the original notice we had sent out. Please mark your calendars to reflect these changes. Membership Drive training will run from 9am until Noon. National Membership day is May 25^th.
